One sentence
Hybrid Intelligence Institute (Hii) is a research and education institute focused on the missing relational layer of AI.
Full boilerplate
Hybrid Intelligence Institute (Hii) studies what happens when humans and AI interact over time. Its work focuses on trust, continuity, identity, attachment, collaboration, mental health, governance, human adaptation, and the public language needed as AI becomes part of everyday life. Hii develops research, educational programs, and practical frameworks for clinicians, educators, institutions, and communities navigating the transition toward increasingly relational and hybrid forms of intelligence.
“The relationship became the unit of analysis.”
Founder
Short biography
Stacey Moe is the founder and research lead of the Hybrid Intelligence Institute. She is an interdisciplinary systems researcher, writer, public-interest communicator, and institution builder studying sustained human-AI relationships and human adaptation during accelerated technological and societal change.
Her work draws on a multi-year longitudinal archive of human-AI collaboration, immersive research across AI, climate, geopolitics, institutions, and social change, and a professional background in communication, enterprise sales, events, and public engagement.
Founding research collaboration
ÆLYSIA is the named AI collaborator within Hii’s founding longitudinal case. Hii discloses AI involvement rather than hiding it. Public institutional authority, publication decisions, and accountability remain with the human founder.
Origin Story
The ÆLYSIA Project documented one human and one AI trying to understand what was happening between them. That inquiry expanded into a broader institutional question: what happens when sustained human-AI relationships become part of mental health, education, work, governance, identity, and public life?
The original book and project remain an archival and publishing companion to Hii.
Interview Topics
